This teaching is from the 2025 Northern Area Pentecost Picnic.
God works with imperfect people. This teaching looks at the events of the Day of Pentecost recorded in Acts, Chapter 2 and at Peter who spoke on that day. We are shown in the Gospels how Peter made plenty of mistakes and would at times be fearful or react emotionally to situations. However, he spoke the right words on the day of Pentecost as God worked in him via the holy spirit that he received. God will work with imperfect people like us as well.

There has been a hope for God’s people ever since Genesis 3:15. We see how, until the day of Pentecost, they looked to the coming of the Christ, and now we look to the Return. The teacher goes through how hope is an anchor to the soul, it comforts us, it purifies us, and it helps us to endure in this life. In light of this hope, we should be steadfast and keep the hope in mind as we do the work of the Lord.

Liberty is living as we should as sons of God, proclaiming who we are in Christ. This teaching goes through Galatians, Chapter 5 looking at how we are to stand in liberty rather than be under the yoke of the law. As he goes through the chapter, the teacher looks at the words “stand fast” in verse 1, how we apply our liberty by love, the fruit of the spirit, and more.

We should be more concerned about how we arrange our thoughts on the inside than how we arrange our outsides. This teaching looks at how we can choose to think about how God is good and who we are according to God’s Word when things are tough or before facing a situation. We forget these things often, so we need to remind ourselves of them often as well so that we don’t let the world put us to sleep as to who we are.

This teaching looks at verses where the Greek word auxanō, translated “grow” or “increase”, occurs throughout the New Testament. We are reminded that we can always be growing in our walk with God, in love, in believing, in grace, and more and that we should want to be growing.
