For our first Summer Camp for adults since 2019 and our first at the Spruce Lake Retreat Center, the overall theme of the week was “God’s Prevailing Word”. The teachings each day revolved around a sub-theme: Monday was on “God’s Prevailing Word”, Tuesday on “Acts of Love”, Wednesday on “Believing Action”, Thursday on “Go Tell – Speaking God’s Word”, and Friday was the wrap-up summarizing the week.

This teaching covers growing in love towards our spouse by imitating God. We can imitate God by always listening, constantly reminding our spouses about our love, doing kind things when our spouse least deserves it, forgiving, recognizing and delighting in our differences, setting high vision for each other, and being thankful for each other.

The teacher shows how Paul sends comfort and encouragement to the Thessalonian believers by telling them to abound more and more in love. He tells them how they ought to walk in a sanctified way, having their bodies in subjection to their minds and leading people by serving with love in contrast with using people. He talks about investing in your rewards plus studying and striving to do God’s will because it is an honor to do so.
