The Two C’s – Covetousness and Contentment

The Two C’s – Covetousness and Contentment Prosperity Marriage, Family and Children The Fellowlaborers’ House (2 Baier) Armstrong, Joe 10/21/2017

This teaching outlines two key topics in marriage: one which can help a marriage, and the other which can hurt a marriage. These topics are covetousness, which is a constant desire to have more physical possessions, and contentment, which is a mind satisfied with your lot, knowing you’ll have what you need. We learn that the abundant life is not about our goods or physical possessions, contrary to what the world and our materialistic society promotes. The real riches in this life are in getting to know God and allowing Him to supply for us. The effort to get to know God and have a relationship with Him pays and is what makes a person truly rich.

How to Better Love Our Spouse with the Love of God

Love Marriage, Family, and Children The Fellowlaborers’ House (2 Baier) Chatten, Karen 07/22/2017

This teaching covers growing in love towards our spouse by imitating God. We can imitate God by always listening, constantly reminding our spouses about our love, doing kind things when our spouse least deserves it, forgiving, recognizing and delighting in our differences, setting high vision for each other, and being thankful for each other.

Grace and Peace

Marriage, Family and Children The Fellowlaborers’ House (2 Baier) Waite, Sid 04/01/2017

If a marriage is an example of The Mystery, then grace and peace have to be in the marriage. We see from this teaching God’s grace in the Church and how we as individuals can give that grace to our spouses. When we better understand that grace of God extended to us, it can help us extend that grace to others. We are shown examples of God’s grace in the Word, including the grace in Paul’s life. It also shows how grace and peace go together, so if we extend grace, we’ll see a lot more peace. We are to be imitators of God. He extends grace because He loves, and that’s the greatest motivation to extend grace, because you love. We haven’t earned anything, but God gives us grace.
