This teaching highlights Hebrews 11:1 regarding believing being the title deed to things we pray for. We can have confidence in God’s Word, that what He says will come to pass. The teacher refers to various records in God’s Word where someone had a need, they were told to “be of good cheer”, and deliverance followed. We will have pressure in this life, but God’s Word is the greater reality in every situation. We can “be of good cheer” even before we get the deliverance because we believe His Word.

In this teaching, we learn how to have a merry heart, and it all depends on what we think about. The teacher gives examples of poisonous thoughts along with examples of vitamin-like thoughts. Examples given of unhealthy thoughts include anger, worry or anxiety, and selfishness; examples of healthy thoughts covered in this teaching include forgiveness, thinking about God, hope, and thinking spiritually. We decide which ones we will think the most.

2021 Online Advance – A Merry Heart Doeth Good Like a Medicine

In the second year of the COVID pandemic, with the lockdown restrictions making it impossible to gather in person for our advances, we offered an online advance on a topic that was very needed – A Merry Heart Doeth Good Like a Medicine. It turned out to be a groundbreaking event for various reasons, beginning with reaching more people than any previous event. Participants totaled 665 believers across 27 U.S. states and territories and 14 countries. It was also the first event at which almost 60% of the participants came from outside of our “home area” of New Jersey, New York and Connecticut, with a third coming from outside of the U.S. And, although we normally do simultaneous translations of Advance sessions into Spanish, this was the first time we had a leader from another country teach in Spanish and have it translated simultaneously into English for the other participants. All of the teachers were present together at the Fellowlaborer house with the exception of Luis Mero who taught from Ecuador. Coming at a crucial moment, the teachings resulted in a great blessing to people in many places and increased outreach in the months that followed.

It goes over how to stand against the wiles of the devil and the six different parts of the armor of God which we can put on in the renewed mind, for the battlefield is in the mind. We are then exhorted to pray, how to pray, and what we should pray for in the One Body of Christ.

The teaching shows us the practical side of service in Ephesians and how we live what we learned in the doctrinal side of Ephesians. It shows us how to have our lives in balance with the doctrine of Ephesians walking worthy of our calling by walking in love, walking as children of light, and walking circumspectly. It shows how the Judeans and Gentiles had to come together to live in unity in the One Body. It talks of the gift ministries that help the perfecting of the saints in their walk. We are shown that the way to live the practical side of Ephesians is by the renewed mind.
