The Red Thread
Sonship Rights The New Birth Spruce Lake Retreat Center (Canadensis, PA) Wierwille, Victor Paul 04/30/2011 04/30/2011
This teaching is about how to get born again and, once you are born again, the sonship rights that are now available to us as sons of God. It is about believing on what has been freely given to us through Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the way, the truth and the life; he is the red thread that binds together the Word of God from Genesis to Revelation.
The Rights We Have as Sons of God
Sonship Rights The Fellowlaborers’ House (Milltown, NJ) Shaak, Erin 12/31/2011 12/31/2011
Ten sonship rights are covered in this teaching, although we are told that there are many more. It is up to us to claim these rights as citizens of heaven. When we believe and act on them, we have an awesome life, we show some of God’s grace and power, and we introduce others to this more than abundant life.

Lightbearers 2011 was a four day weekend event at the end of 2011 and into New Year’s Day 2012 for believers ages 13 – 30. People from outside of the Milltown area were housed with local believers during the weekend. With the theme verse being 1 Thessalonians 1:8: “For from you sounded out the word of the Lord not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place your faith to God is spread abroad so that we need not to speak any thing,” in addition to the teachings it included significant time out witnessing. The fellowship on Friday evening, December 30th, was also open to believers who were not participating in the whole weekend and many came to join in the Word and the fun that evening.

This teaching about recognizing your position as a son of God has three parts: (1) who we are – sons of God, (2) what does it mean to be a son of God? and (3) act like a son of God. Holy spirit changed us, and we are no longer the same people we were before we were born again. Let’s wake up every day and believe we are God’s kids. We get to enjoy being sanctified, righteous, justified, forgiven, redeemed, and we can’t lose these sonship rights. Jesus Christ paid for everything mankind lacked, so we are complete and going to Heaven. We need to believe the truth of who we are in order to see the effect on our lives and the lives of others. We have the responsibility and privilege of reconciling others back to Him. Our citizenship is in Heaven so we should live our lives like sons of God. We are not in this life alone; we are laboring together and doing it together with God.
Sonship Rights

This teaching about recognizing our positions as sons of God has three parts: (1) what is our standing right now? (2) what is the significance of our position? and (3) how can we utilize this position as sons of God? Before we can walk out as sons of God, we need to perceive God’s love towards us. This position has nothing to do with our accomplishments, shortcomings, or whether we feel like sons of God. We are sons of God now! Although we do not need to work for our sonship rights, we do need to put in the work to remember them. The youngest son from the Parable of the Forgiving Father is given as an example of a son who asked boldly for something he knew already belonged to him. We can claim our sonship rights as God’s sons because they have been freely given to us. Set aside anything that is weighing you down, and renew your mind thought by thought. Believe in who we are, sons of God with Christ in us!
