Romans 3:21 – 4:25

This teaching begins by going back to the Old Testament to see man’s Fall and his inability to pay the legal penalty necessary for salvation from the consequences of that Fall. It shows how God, because of His justness and mercy, planned how to provide a legal solution – someone completely innocent who would give his life as a ransom, paying to overcome the sin nature. It talks about what God did to temporarily cover man’s sin until the Messiah could come and then shows how, in Romans Chapter 4, God puts to rest all arguments against His righteousness. The teaching closes with “what” we’re to believe in order to accept and receive the wholeness Christ made available.

The purpose of this teaching series was to give the Bible student an introduction to the first epistle to the Church – the Book of Romans. It covers the relationship between Romans and the other Church Epistles and then goes on to look at the major themes of God’s message in the different sections of the book. This series is great for the believer or fellowship that wants to understand better why we needed a savior, what Jesus Christ accomplished for us and made available to us as individual believers, and how we’re now to live in light of that.
The series was taught in the Northern Area of New Jersey, with the first and last sessions taking place with the whole area together at the Hasbrouck Heights VFW, and then the in-between sessions were taught in each of the branches of the Northern Area – at the Zolezzis’ in Glen Rock, the 76th Street house in North Bergen, the Cinardos’ in Rutherford, and the Daggons’ in Budd Lake.
What God Wants You To Give is Yourself

We start by reminding ourselves that God’s prosperity is not something that we automatically manifest in our lives just because we’re sons of God. Along with maintaining our fellowship with God, there are two great actions on our part required in order to enjoy the prosperity God has made available – giving and working. And what does God want us to give him? Ourselves! The teaching addresses in depth the spiritual law of giving and receiving, showing many categories of giving talked about in the Bible which are not just monetary. With that as background, we look at tithing and the heart and place it has in God’s design.
Keeping Your Life Simple

God has given us freedom in Christ and, therefore, doesn’t want us entangled or bound up in the world. From God’s perspective, our lives are not our own but belong to God because we’ve been bought with the price of the life of His son. We then cover some practical ways in which we can keep God first and not sell out to the world by keeping our life simple. Lastly, it closes with David’s example of a believer with a great heart to desire to understand and to fellowship with God.
