An advance usually centers around a specific theme in the Bible. It may also be open to a specific group of people, for example a singles’ advance or married couples’ advance or youth advance or central area advance. It’s frequently a weekend-long event and is different from a class or teaching series because the believers live and stay overnight at the location of the event, eating together, living together, and spending their free time fellowshipping together, in addition to the teaching times. Camps are often longer than advances and also include staying overnight.

2023 Atlanta Fall Advance – Freedom in Christ

“Freedom in Christ” was the theme of this weekend-long Advance held outside of Atlanta, Georgia with the theme verse being Galatians 5:1, “Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.”  We learned about what Christ accomplished for us and because of that we can walk in true spiritual freedom. As we accept the liberty that we have in Christ, we can then put our focus on our commitment to service and outreach; this privilege to serve and speak the Word helps others to be able to enjoy the same incredible freedom that we have.

2023 Youth Advance – Renewed Mind Key to Power

The 2023 Youth Advance was a four-day event at the end of the summer for believers ages 12 through 20s focusing on God’s Word, fellowship, and fun. It took place at a camp called New Life Island located on an island in the Delaware River and included meals and overnight housing. The theme verse was Romans 12:2: “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what [is] that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” Some of the things that were emphasized were that we can renew our minds to God’s Word and that we can change our minds to the truth of God’s Word and be transformed. We can help change the world one person at a time; the first person is me.

2022 Atlanta Fall Advance – Standing on the Promises of God

A couple hundred believers gathered at the Inn at Stone Mountain Park outside Atlanta, Georgia on October 7-9, 2022. The theme verse for the Advance was Romans 4:21, “And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.”  We were encouraged to know, claim, confess, and act on the promises of God.  Many promises were shared that God has freely given by His grace.  We learned to be doers of God’s Word and not hearers only. We should confess what God says as His Word is the truth.  We can use the name of Jesus Christ as our authority to utilize all that God has given us, and we can apply God’s Word in our everyday situations.  Abraham is given as an example of one who believed God, and in the Scriptures he is called, “the father of all them that believe”.
