Walking Spiritually

Walking with God The Hermitage (Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ) Chow, Kaitlyn 05/04/2025

After tracing some of the different words for “walking” in the Bible and seeing what they can tell us about walking with God, this teaching goes on to look at a number of principles for walking spiritually using examples from God’s Word and the teacher’s own life. Records of believers such as Enoch, Noah, Hannah, David, Moses, and Jesus Christ are used to illustrate how we can walk in fellowship, alignment, and partnership with God. Some of the keys covered are the need to trust God; the importance of faithfulness; the role of prayer; the requirement to not care what others think but only what God’s will is; the place of selflessness, humility, and obedience; the necessity of operating the manifestations; and the place that waiting on God holds.

Being an Example

Lifestyle of a Believer The Hermitage (Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ) West, Greg 05/04/2025

We have been called by God to be His sons and, as we walk in this world, people are watching our example. Whether we want them to or not and whether we recognize it or not, we make an impression on others. In order for others to understand who God is and what Jesus Christ has made available, we want to imitate many of the characteristics of our Heavenly Father, above all by walking in His love. Being the examples we’ve been called to be involves remembering and believing who we are and what we have because of Christ, manifesting the truth of God’s Word by walking out on it and holding it forth.

Developing a Lifestyle of Service

Leadership and Service Lifestyle of a Believer The Hermitage (Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ) Chatten, Bob 05/03/2025

Service to others in God’s name is a part of God’s design for every believer’s life and growth, not just something for a few special people or ones with a certain personality or knowledge. Just as we grow and mature physically from stage to stage in our lives, we can choose to grow and mature spiritually from stage to stage over the course of our lives. In this teaching we look at some of the different stages of spiritual growth and maturity mentioned in God’s Word, what is involved in reaching those stages, how we learn what our particular place of service in the Body of Christ is, the difference between our position and our function, and how urgent and important it is that each of us gives what we uniquely have to contribute.

Our Calling

Sonship Rights The New Birth The Hermitage (Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ) Cahill, Chrissy 05/03/2025

The truth is that we are sons and daughters of God right now, and Christ in you should have a huge impact on your day to day life. This teaching looks at who God made us to be and how being God’s child is the core of who we are. We are instructed to learn where in the Word different promises and sonship rights are stated so that we can claim them when we need them. Then, the teacher looks at Jesus Christ’s, John the Baptist’s, and Paul’s callings and teaches that, with God, we can always change the direction we are heading. The only acceptance we should care about is from God and the Lord Jesus Christ which we already have.

The Best Way to Live is to Walk with God

Lifestyle of a Believer Renewed Mind The Hermitage (Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ) Carr, Jesse 05/02/2025

There is no better way to live than walking with God; the other alternatives don’t work and fall far short of what God has designed for us. This teaching looks at what we have available to us and how we should avoid being engrossed in material things and avoid going back to the operating principles of the world. Then the teacher goes through parts of the Book of Ecclesiastes to see the example of someone who tried other ways of living and found that none of it works.
