2024 Summer Camp Closing Teaching

Sonship Rights Spruce Lake Retreat Center (Canadensis, PA) Carr, Jerry 07/05/2024

This last session of the camp opens with Kristy Nafey and Eric Rosa performing the song “Stand”. After that, Rev. Carr uses Chapter 58 of Isaiah to draw a sharp contrast between the ugliness and oppressiveness of religion on the one hand and the beauty and greatness of the things God wants to and will do when we accept what He’s given us freely on the other hand. We are exhorted to stand on God’s Word and really master the foundational truths we’ve been taught. Following the teaching, Rev. Mercado thanks the people who made the week of camp possible and closes it in prayer.

We Are Witnesses

The Great Mystery The New Birth Witnessing and Undershepherding Spruce Lake Retreat Center (Canadensis, PA) Mercado, Dean 07/05/2024

The Friday morning fellowship began with singing and prayer, building up to a ministering service in which believers who wanted to be prayed for were ministered to by others.
The teaching highlighted God’s will that all people be saved and come unto a knowledge of the truth, that this is his heart for everyone. It then traced how God provided for the first part of that will by raising Jesus Christ from the dead and making available the gift of the holy spirit in the new birth. The second part of His will requires that we witness to the truth of the resurrection by our words and by our operation of the power we’ve been given. The good news we announce to others is of the more than abundant life available now, as well as the hope of the eternal life that we will have in the future, and the Mystery is held up as the answer to all the division in the world. Paul’s speech before the Roman governor Festus and King Agrippa in Acts 26 is used to show all of these principles in operation.

Ephesians: The Breakfast of Champions

Walking with God Spruce Lake Retreat Center (Canadensis, PA) Penna, Alberto 07/05/2024

This teaching was taught at a short, optional Morning Watch fellowship before breakfast.
This teaching looks at a few verses in the Book of Ephesians. We are taught that God knows better than we do; we can’t outplan God. God gives and has given us what we need to not be blind. The teacher goes through the three ways that believers are to walk in Ephesians, Chapter 3.

Age Doesn’t Matter

Believing Old Testament Examples Youth Spruce Lake Retreat Center (Canadensis, PA) Armstrong, Joe 07/04/2024

The song “Railway Cars” was performed by Christina Armstrong, Kristy Nafey, Jerry Carr, and Eric Rosa during the fellowship before the teaching.
Age doesn’t matter with God; He works in the young and the old with no regard for age. This teaching looks at Samuel and David as young believers who God chose, spoke to, and worked in. Then, we saw how Abraham and Moses uprooted their lives in their old age and saw God do great things in their lives and worked in them to help God’s people. We are reminded that the God in Christ in us never weakens or decays and encouraged to take our hands off of things and let God work.

Follow-Through

Witnessing and Undershepherding Spruce Lake Retreat Center (Canadensis, PA) Zolezzi, Steve 07/04/2024

We can help people with the truth of God’s Word and with God’s love. The teacher looks at the examples of follow-through in the records of Paul’s conversion and of Peter and Cornelius. Then, we are given some tips on undershepherding and follow-through.
