Marriage, Family and Children Youth Aldersgate Center Gilmore, Michael 05/13/2000 05/13/2000
This teaching covers what God’s Word says about raising kids, specifically handling the rod of correction. The teacher goes through records in Proverbs to give the definition and the reasoning behind its use. He shows from the Word that the individual who desires to successfully parent will use this properly.
Marriage

This teaching focuses on one chapter, 1 Corinthians 7, which is written to the Church regarding God’s spiritual advice on relationships. All of our human relationships were designed to be a blessing but not a distraction from God. Topics covered include the love of God as the basis of relationships, premarital sex, sex in marriage, temptations, unmarried believers, widows, married Christians, and Christians married to non-Christians. The key to all these relationships is to walk with God. We don’t have time to lose focus from God with all of our human relationships and worldly things beyond our need. Enjoy your relationships in all these situations, but don’t get distracted from putting God first and manifesting the love of God in the renewed mind.
The Love of God in the Christian Family
Love Marriage, Family and Children Aldersgate Center Zolezzi, Steve 05/13/2000 05/13/2000
This teaching looks at the love of God within the Christian family. God set the standard for love, and He is the one who set up marriage. He set it up to bless man and to preserve the Word from generation to generation. It looks at the Christian family in the book of Ephesians where it appears in the context of walking in love and in light of the great Mystery. Husbands, wives and children all need to walk in love to be in step with God and each other. Love is the bond of perfectness, and it works in the family of God. Jesus Christ loved God more than he loved other people and thus never compromised on the Word. We need to love God first so we never compromise on the Word. The price we pay for loving is high, but the price we pay for not loving is more than what we can afford to pay.
The Love of God

This teaching focuses on agapē love being God’s very nature and how it is available for God’s children to love with the same type of unconditional and unselfish love in the new birth. Love in the renewed mind in manifestation is the distinguishing characteristic of the Lord Jesus Christ’s followers upon the Earth. Loving with the love of God is a commitment out of freedom of will and is not based on emotion or the actions of other people. God loves me, therefore I love you; since God’s love for me never changes, neither does my love for you since my love is based on God. If we compromise on right doctrine, what we are manifesting ceases to be agapē. God’s love is like a magnet that draws people to God; it is the most powerful motivating factor in the world. God has poured into us His perfect love nature, and we as His sons can have that love in full manifestation in all aspects of our lives.

This teaching teaches that life can be beautiful as God’s people love one another. We can do kind and comforting acts just like our Lord. We can refresh people and triumph over evil with love; we choose to do this to exemplify His love. God is love and sheds that love in our hearts.
