Four Things Jesus Christ Taught on Prayer

Jesus Christ’s Example Prayer Greenkill Conference Center Armstrong, Joe 05/02/2015 05/02/2015

Joe covered four things Jesus Christ taught about prayer: (1) Just ask, with shamelessness; (2) Be humble, knowing that you need his help and that God doesn’t answer prayers because they’re earned; (3) Spend time alone with God to get to know God; and (4) At times we need to wait for prayers to be answered, so keep praying and don’t faint while you trust firmly in Him.

In the Name of Jesus Christ

Prayer Greenkill Conference Center Mercado, Dean 05/02/2015 05/02/2015

Dean opens by discussing the meaning of the name of Jesus Christ biblically and how he is represented in the stars. He continues with showing that Jesus Christ was given a name, he inherited a name, and he acquired a name. Lastly, he reviews from God’s Word the ability we have to use his name and the great authority and power that backs it up.

The teacher handles the importance of prayer in the family of God. She states that families are messy and take work. The teaching covers the ways and means God has given us by His Spirit to help one another. The teacher shares how we can encircle one another in prayers for each other and bring comfort to each other in the Family of God. We are told that we can pray for each other to mature and to stand in the Body. Lastly she shows that, until Christ comes back, God has given gift ministries to the Church for the perfecting of the saints and for the work of the ministry.

We are told to take our time with God, remembering to stay our minds in speaking in tongues and in prayer with our understanding. She shows that it is a two-way street, that God will tell us things too. Lastly, she addresses that we can go to God’s Word to see God’s great works and His heart.

This teaching opens with the theme verse, 1 Thessalonians 5:17, covering God’s desire that we pray without intermission throughout our day. It handles how we have to believe that God exists and that He really cares for and pays attention to us. Then, several quotes on prayer that portray God’s heart are shared, and examples of prayer in the Gospels and Church Epistles are touched on. Lastly, the teaching covers how prayer is sharing our hearts and lives with God, making specific requests, supplications for self or others, intercession, and thanksgiving.

Romans 15:1 – 16:27

Believing Leadership and Service Hasbrouck Heights VFW (Hasbrouck Heights, NJ) Zolezzi, Steve 11/16/2007 11/16/2007

The Overview or Romans series closes out with going through Romans Chapters 15 and 16. It covers how the mature believer is not to please himself or herself but to please God and to edify the believers. The latter half of Romans 15 and much of  Romans 16 cover the same topics with which the epistle opened in Chapter 1, but in the reverse order. It closes with looking at how Jesus Christ is the subject of the written Word from Genesis 3:15 to Revelation 22:21. He is the Red Thread that ties the Word together.
