The teaching shows that God is a just God and therefore must judge with justice. The wages of sin is death and the justice of God demands judgement, but the love of God demands mercy and grace. Because He is a God of grace and mercy, He provided a substitute, Jesus Christ, so that the world through him might be saved. The teacher then covers two phases of grace, grace that is for the unbeliever and grace for the believer in his walk with God, and covers what the believer is to do with that grace he freely received.
